Help Parents Protect Children! The FCC needs to hear from you.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is seeking public comments about the TV ratings systems from anyone who cares about the safety and well-being of children (parents, church leaders, organizations). Parents have complained for years that the content ratings on TV, cable, etc. are inadequate and fail to warn about content that is explicit, violent, or promotes gender ideology. The FCC is finally moving on this and is considering ways to balance the TV Oversight Monitoring Board (to include parents and people of faith, as well as faith-based media), to improve the accuracy of media content ratings.

“Why is this important?”

According to the FCC Press Release, the FCC is seeking public input on ways to empower parents when it comes to media. This is the time to voice concerns about the kinds of content on TV, the unreliable ratings, and the imbalance of power between families and media companies that bend to the influence of GLAAD (LGBTQ media lobby group), Planned Parenthood, and others.

“What should the comment include? I’ve never written one.”

Your comment doesn’t need to be long or sophisticated, they just want to hear from you! Please note that submitting a public comment means that it is public and accessible to anyone.

Specifically, the FCC wants to know whether you think the ratings system needs to be reformed and why this would be important to strengthen parental rights and religious and traditional values. Two ideas on the table are 1) Creating a balanced TV Oversight Monitoring Board by including conservative and faith based groups or individuals rather than media giants and progressive parent groups. 2) Strengthening the media ratings so that they apply to specific episodes, not just “programs” or “series,” and to include warnings about “LGBTQ” content and gender ideology. Currently, there is no consistency across platforms or channels.
